Dr Hillier is an established and respected Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist with experience in General Adult and Addictions Psychiatry. He carries out medicolegal work as well as being a Consultant Psychiatrist as The Nightingale Hospital London, HumanMind Health, and in the States of Jersey, Channel Islands.
Dr Hillier trained in medicine

Dr Hillier trained in medicine at the University of Oxford (BMBCh MA(Oxon)) and then in psychiatry in Central London including Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea on the Imperial College Charing Cross Rotation, Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust; Camden and Islington at the University College London rotation; at the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust rotation; as well as at Broadmoor High Secure psychiatric hospital, Springfield and St George's Hospital, and prison settings such as HMP Wandsworth.
Dr Hillier has taken additional training in public health with a Masters In Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (MScPH). He is a Member of the Faculty of Forensic and Legal Medicine (MFFLM) at the Royal College of Physicians (RCP), and both a Member (MRCPsych and a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (FRCPsych) in recognition of his outstanding services to psychiatry.
Dr Hillier has been involved in a wide range of medicolegal cases throughout the UK an internationally, including in the Channel Islands, where he holds clinical responsibilities across the Islands within the Royal Court, HMP La Moye, the community, and for a cohort of patients within secure psychiatric settings across the UK.
Dr Hillier accepts legally aided and privately funded criminal case instructions from the Defence, Prosecution and Court, as well as civil work including clinical negligence claims, risk assessment and analysis, and working as part of complex cases with multiple expert witnesses. He is in demand as a witness and performs well in court when giving expert evidence.
Dr Hillier offers a range of services from expert witness work in a range of different medicolegal settings, and private psychiatric consultation. He is frequently instructed in complex and violent offending, including homicide. He also has expertise in the role of substances in mental health and offending behaviour.

Concerning non-criminal work, Dr Hillier has been involved in high profile reviews of serious incidents, and is able to provide reports concerning the presence of prima face civil pre-claims. He is also experienced in employment and mental health tribunals as well as family cases.
In private practice, Dr Hillier is able to see patients at The Nightingale Hospital, Marylebone, where he has admitting rights, as well as at 55 Queen Anne Street, and 14 Harley Street, London, W1.

Dr Hillier also provides expert international consultation to the Committee for the Prevention of Torture at the Council of Europe and provides feedback to the Council on the wellbeing of some of the most stigmatised and vulnerable people in society, namely those under detention in prisons and other settings.
Dr Hillier has also consulted to the United Nations concerning healthcare services in South East Asia. He maintains a charitable trustee role in an organisation supporting the development of mental healthcare for the people of Myanmar (Burma).
